Prizes and Awards

Journalism students at Baruch are eligible for several awards and scholarships offered by the Department of Journalism and the Writing Professions.

Applications and the supporting materials must be returned to the department or emailed to Joshua.Mills@baruch.cuny.edu by Monday, May 13 if you wish to be considered for any of these awards.

To be eligible you must be a journalism major or minor, have completed at least two journalism courses and have a G.P.A. of at least 3.0 overall and 3.2 in journalism courses. Some prizes and scholarships listed have additional criteria.

Awards

Becker Scholarship in Creative Writing, $5,200

For a student with a demonstrated interest in creative writing

Institutional Investor Scholarship (2), $2,500

For undergraduate journalism majors who excel in their field

Daniel S. and Florence Roher Scholarship, $2,000

For an outstanding student specializing in Business Journalism

Israel S. and Theresa Wiesel Scholarship, $500       

For an outstanding student
