The fully online post-baccalaureate certificate in psychology is an ideal next step for professionals who earned their bachelor’s degree in another field but now want to pursue a graduate degree in psychology, counseling, or i/o psychology. This certificate ensures that you have the prerequisite courses to apply for these programs and make a positive impact on the world, whether it’s on the clinical side, or in the workplace.     Students have the option to choose from two tracks:

    Industrial-Organizational (I/O)

    This focus area explores human behavior in the workplace. Careers in I/O include but are not limited to Coaching and development, corporate trainers, Organizational change leaders, and human resource managers.

    Clinical

    This focus area explores the assessment and treatment of mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. Students will be prepared for careers centered on humanistic concerns and graduate programs in mental health counseling, social work, and related areas.

    Admissions Information

    • Applicants must already earned a bachelor’s degree in any major or area of study in order to apply for this program. Note: the bachelor’s does not need to be in psychology.
    • Admission to the Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Psychology is fall entry only.
    • Bachelor’s Degrees earned outside of the United States need to be the equivalent of a US undergraduate degree.
    • Applicants are expected to have taken General Psychology and Statistics for the Social Sciences prior to entering the post-bac program. Students are expected to have taken the course in the past ten years and earned a grade of B- or better.
    • Applicants who have not taken General Psychology and Statistics for the Social Sciences can reach out to admissions for information on how to complete these requirements.

    Curriculum Highlight

    PSY 3000– Career Pathways in Psychology

    In this course, students will learn the steps required for success in the program, finding employment in the field of psychology, and preparing to apply to graduate school. Students will explore their career interests and learn the value of participating in scientific research, student organizations and activities, and internship opportunities in psychology. Students will also develop a career plan portfolio, which will include a summary of their professional interests and skills assessment, a course plan for their certificate program at Baruch, a professional resume or CV, a professional cover letter and personal statement, and an action plan to pursue their goals. Upon successfully completing this course, students will have the tools to make the most of their studies and know the steps required for pursuing their professional goals in psychology and related fields.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Students who already have a bachelor’s degree and are looking to acquire the prerequisite courses to apply to a graduate program in psychology.
    The application for Fall 2026 will open in spring 2026.

    Academic Transcripts: Transcripts of all postsecondary coursework at a college or university where six or more credits were attempted must be submitted.

    Please note: If you have received your degree from a foreign institution it may be required for you to obtain an official transcript evaluation. Typically, evaluations from any evaluators that are a member of NACES (National Association of Credential Evaluation Services) are accepted.  Most of our applicants typically use WES, The Evaluation Company -TEC (formerly known as SpanTran), or IEE however any approved NACES is allowed and the applicant should select a service that is right for them.
