The Corporate Communications program at Baruch was outstanding, particularly during the challenges of the Covid era when I was on active military duty. The faculty showcased an impressive ability to adapt to the unique circumstances of the pandemic, delivering quality education and support. Each professor I encountered was flexible and accommodating, helping me navigate my military commitments while providing practical insights and solutions directly applicable to real-life situations. Cost and value compared to other institutions: It’s not expensive, and the valuable lessons earned beyond a theoretical level give it an edge over other programs.  Overall, the program exemplified corporate communications in praxis.

This program has significantly enhanced my communication skills. By honing my ability to identify and engage with all stakeholders, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of my audience and their unique needs. This awareness has empowered me to craft more strategic and focused messages in my professional environment and personal interactions. As a result, I can now communicate more effectively, fostering better relationships and ensuring that my communications resonate with those I am trying to reach.

In my diverse professional landscape, I primarily see myself as a communications consultant, allowing me to switch between responsibilities seamlessly. My consulting work with Integral involves crafting strategic communication plans and advising on effective messaging. Alongside this, I fulfill my military duties, which enhance my leadership and organizational skills. Additionally, I pursue freelance opportunities in entertainment public relations, focusing on promoting and managing clients’ public image in the dynamic entertainment world. This multifaceted career allows me to draw on various skills and experiences

Senior Specialist of Communications & Public Affairs, The Walt Disney Company

I appreciated that the corporate communications master’s program had student success in mind all throughout the program, from the flexibility in class times allowing me to work full time during the day, to the small class sizes allowing for more intentional interaction with professors and classmates. Many of my professors also worked in the communications field, which made it that much more impactful – to learn from a real-word perspective, which helped strengthen the course material.

I worked in advertising for some years and was seeking a career pivot into the corporate communications field. After graduating with my master’s degree, I was able to make the switch very quickly. My thesis topic focused on corporate reputations, so I began researching several companies from the start of my project and was able to gain in-depth knowledge about what companies I wanted to work for by the time I was ready to graduate. This helped me to be strategic in where I applied and also helped me tremendously when interviewing.

I had been actively searching on the Disney careers page before graduating as I’ve always admired the company’s reputation. I was able to secure interviews and landed a corporate communication role as a Senior Specialist of Communications & Public Affairs upon graduation.

Corporate Communications Sr. Analyst, JPMorgan Chase & Co.

The Corporate Communication program at Baruch’s Weissman School of Arts and Sciences was a wonderfully eye-opening experience that taught me that communication is deeper and more meaningful than writing words on paper. Going through this program during the pandemic was a unique and, at times, a difficult experience. But my incredibly knowledgeable professors and classmates got me through it. One of the highlights of this program was a summer class I took where I had open discussions with my classmates about various crises communicators have faced. In these conversations, I learned that as a communicator, we sometimes need to engage with our peers, reflect and internalize what’s going on, and then use that knowledge to strategize and take action.

The lessons I learned in this program have greatly helped me in my career. The courses I took have challenged me to think about various situations through the lens of different stakeholders. Today, as I draft a communication, I think about what’s left unsaid, how it might impact people differently, and how my targeted audience might respond or understand what is written.

I learned about my current position through Indeed and started working there about a year into the master’s program. I currently work at JPMorgan Chase & Co. as a Corporate Communication Sr. Analyst drafting emails and articles, managing events, and collaborating with my various stakeholders to strategize communications to engage our employees

Sales and Marketing Specialist at Graduate Roosevelt Island, Highgate

The MA in Corporate Communication program at Baruch College was an extremely empowering and rewarding experience for me. From the moment I visited Baruch and stepped into the information session, I found the faculty and students to be extremely warm, welcoming and insightful. It has been a great investment for me both personally and professionally, and I have instantly formed connections at media and hospitality companies such as Zenith and Highgate due to the influence of Baruch students and the Alumni community. The importance of Corporate Communication in our current landscape is undeniable and there are endless career opportunities both domestically and internationally. I have struck up fascinating conversations with people from all walks of life on the role of Corporate Communication in our society, and there is a wealth of knowledge I have accrued from our extremely diverse student body and faculty.

I was always seeking to enter a career path in sales, marketing or communications and my education allowed me to make the switch from an Operations role into a Sales and Marketing role at Highgate. I have also been approached for job opportunities at start-ups, media, global recruitment and consulting, and manufacturing companies. Regardless of the career path I choose to embark on the future, I am confident there will always be an opportunity available for me thanks to my education at Baruch.

I learned about my current position through a former colleague’s post about her new job on LinkedIn. After reading the post I went to the company website to find openings which interested me and reached out to my contacts in Human Resources at the company, and was able to obtain a position.

Baruch’s Weissman School of Arts and Sciences Master of Arts in Corporate Communication is an engaging, challenging curriculum that reflects your endeavors to push the boundaries of corporate communication.  The program aids in understanding and executing this broad field, but addresses your individual interests that will advance your comprehension and performance.  It was pivotal in my goal of changing career industries.

The Corporate Communications MA offers a broad selection of elective coursework that allows for a customized approach for creating the curriculum that I sought.  The majority of professors are not only professional educators, but are also practitioners in corporate communications by trade, and who impart real world-lessons, further enriching the MA experience.

I learned about the FlieshmanHillard Graduate Development Program from one of my professors here at Baruch, who I asked to advise me with my thesis.

    Account Executive, 1964 Agency

Th Corporate Communication program exposed me to a wonderful group of knowledgeable professors and students who taught me so much through our course material and their own experiences within the field.  Upon graduating, my understanding of corporate culture and workplace practices was vastly different from when I first started.  This newly found understanding led me to become interested specifically in corporate diversity practices which turned out to be the topic of my thesis.  I also found a great deal of value in Weissman’s career services.  Without the help I received on my resume and their guidance through the job search process, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

I feel that the lessons I learned in the classroom truly helped shape my career success.  Weissman’s diverse offering of courses allowed me to hone my knowledge on a wide range of skills.  When reviewing my work from the start of the program I can certainly see the growth, and I’m so proud to be a Weissman graduate.

I learned about my current position through the job search website Indeed.  Currently, I am an Account Executive at 1964 Agency, and play a leading role in our public relations and marketing efforts for several accounts.

    Principal Talent Acquisition Coordinator, Celonis

I took a leap of faith when I applied to the Corporate Communication Graduate program. Many of my close family and friends considered enrolling to be a risky move. As for myself, I always had an interest in internal communication but was hesitant about cultivating a career out of it. Confused about what to do, I contacted the Assistant Director of Academic Advisement. The guidance received, even as a prospective student, was enough for me to submit my application.

Fast forward to today, I can confidently say I made the right decision.

The faculty and administrators of the Graduate Studies at Weissman all have immense clarity in their respective fields of work. I honed in on my interest in internal communication by enrolling in courses that excited me, such as Employee Relations, Corporate Culture, and Quantitative Research. I truly believe having the opportunity to enroll in these courses laid the foundation of my career in Talent Acquisition.

Currently, I am a Principal Talent Acquisition Coordinator at Celonis. I learned about my company while searching for content on LinkedIn for my thesis project. The communication strategies I grasped throughout my graduate program allowed me to collaborate with internal partners and provide transparent candidate experiences.

The MA in Corporate Communication at the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences is undoubtedly the best investment I made for my personal and professional growth. I am forever grateful for the education gained, the connections made, and the barriers broken solely from this program.
