Ralph Blumenthal, a distinguished lecturer in journalism and the writing professions, recently gave a talk on “Crash! The Stock Market Collapse of 1929” at the Museum of American Finance.
Professor Geanne Belton’s research was mentioned in the article “College Media Labs May Increasingly Clash with Their Universities” published on Poynter.org.
Dr. Rianne Subijanto’s chapter on “Communist Openbare Vergaderingen and an Indonesian Revolutionary Public Sphere” was published in Volume 6: The Global Impacts Of Russia’s Great War And Revolution, Book 2: The Wider Arc Of Revolution, Part 2.
Dr. Stephen Gosnell along with Weissman School of Arts and Sciences alumna Minkyung Sarah Lee (’18) created the educational exercise “Building Marine Reserve Networks To Fit Multiple Needs: an Introduction to Marine Spatial Planning Using SeaSketch” published by the Center for Biodiversity and Conservation at the American Museum of Natural History.
Professor Katherine Behar delivered a plenary for the Speaker Series “Lectures on Ahuman Pedagogy” at the University of Alberta and a lecture and visit with art students at Alberta University of the Arts in Calgary. Professor Behar’s art installations, “Roomba Rumba” and recent piece “Knock Knock,” were featured at the Banff Center in an exhibition in conjunction with its Digital Transformation Summit.
Dr. Debra Caplan served as the translator and producer for The Jewish Question: A Report from the Jewish Deportation As Documented by C.S. Chaplin, a play written and directed by Weissman School of Arts and Sciences alumnus Reuven Glezer (’18) and staged by the Jewish Studies Center on Nov. 25, 2019.
Dr. Chester Zarnoch, Dr. Stephen Gosnell, Professor Jennifer Zhu, and other researchers published the article “Ribbed Mussels Geukensia Demissa Enhance Nitrogen-Removal Services but Not Plant Growth in Restored Eutrophic Salt Marshes” in the journal Marine Ecology Progress Series (MEPS).
Dr. Chester Zarnoch along with Weissman School of Arts and Sciences alumna Noshin Hossain and other co-authors published the article “Size and Density of Upside-Down Jellyfish, Cassiopea SP., and Their Impact on Benthic Fluxes in a Caribbean Lagoon” in the journal Marine Environmental Research.
Professor Ian Ross Singleton wrote the article “Never Too Soon: A Conversation with Leland Cheuk” published by the Los Angeles Review of Books.
Professor Emeritus of Sociology and Anthropology Michael Plekon (PhD) published “Communion and Engagement: Merton, Berrigan and the Eucharist in Peacemaking and Protest” in the forthcoming publication of the Merton Annual, Volume 32. Dr. Plekon also recently published “Merton’s Last Epiphany?” in the Merton Journal, Vol. 26, No.1.

For the fifth consecutive year, Baruch College’s Master of Financial Engineering(MFE) program has placed among the top two programs in the QuantNet ranking of the “Best Financial Engineering Programs in the United States”, beating out schools like Carnegie Mellon University and Columbia University.
