    Class Permissions

    Class Permissions

    Students needing closed class permission for COM courses should use one of the links below. Please note that permission will be granted at the discretion of the department, and the department will give priority to those closest to graduation as well as Business Communication (Corporate Communication) and Communication Studies majors.

    Communication Studies majors: Note that COM 2000 should be taken as early as possible. If classes are full when you try to enroll, please immediately request permission to enroll from the Department of Communication Studies (see below).

    Communication Capstone registration request (for COM 4900, 4901, 4902, 4905, 4907)

    Upper-Level Class registration request (for COM 2000 and 3000-4000 level classes, except COM 3021, capstones and COM 5010)

    COM 5010 Class Permission 

    Effective FALL 2025 the prerequisite for COM 3021 is COM 2020 for all students except: 

    Students who entered Baruch before Fall 2024, have maintained continuous attendance, and who entered Baruch with COM 1010 as freshmen or transfers, are not required to complete COM 2020. Students who meet these requirements will need an override from the department.

    Completion of this form does not guarantee enrollment in COM 3021
