    Philosophy

Philosophy involves an ongoing attempt to analyze, interpret, and logically explain what humans believe, value, and do. Philosophy courses introduce students to the great ideas of Eastern and Western civilization and assist them in developing philosophical orientations of their own.

    As a Major

Student majoring in philosophy will select a base course in addition to required courses in the history of philosophy. Elective groupings include Social and Cultural Philosophy, Philosophy of Knowledge and Reality, and Applied and Professional Ethics. Students interested in a major in philosophy should contact the department and a faculty advisor.

    As a Minor

Students majoring in business or the liberal arts may elect to complete their Tier III Minor in philosophy. The philosophy minor requires nine total credits, including two 3000-level courses and one 4000 level capstone course.
