This page provides an overview to academic questions and concerns you may have while navigating your graduate studies here at the Weissman School of Arts & Sciences.
Weissman Office of Graduate Studies – General Advisement
The first tool for planning your program is the Program Planner. We ask that students download and complete a copy of this form to help plan their registration as they progress through their program of study. Here is where to find yours: Arts Administration, Corporate Communication, I/O Psychology
1. To see course offerings for, you will need to search on CUNYFirst. Remember, to search for courses within the Academic Career of GRAD and your program’s subject
- COM for Corporate Communication
- PSY for I/O Psychology and Mental Health Counseling
- FPA for Arts Administration or PAF for Public Affairs
- MTH for Financial Engineering
2. The course codes in your program’s planner are a helpful guide to search for specific courses you may need. Not every course on the planner will be offered each semester. It is important to note that most required classes are only offered in Fall and Spring terms, and not in every semester. Elective courses are typically offered in Winter and Summer terms.
3. The course offerings for the current term can be found in CUNYFirst, with information about the dates and times of the course is offered. To read a description of any course at Baruch: https://www.baruch.cuny.edu/course-info/
4. For key dates for registration, course changes, refunds and withdrawals and and other matters related to registration, check the academic calendar.

7. Important reminder: Please include your EMPLID in every correspondence.
To search for and register into courses, use the Schedule Builder found in the Student Center of your CUNY First account.
- Log into Student Center through CUNYFirst with your credentials.
- Click the “Launch Schedule Builder” link to access the Schedule Builder application. This link is in your Student Center in the Academics section of the page.
- Once open, Schedule Builder’s Welcome page should appear.
- Next, Select the term in which you would like to search for classes directly on the Welcome page.
- If an advisor has made a recommendation, you may find it in the Welcome menu. If there is a required first course for your program, you may find that the advisor has pinned it to your account.
To see the course offerings for your graduate program you can either search by the course code and number found on your Program Planner.

Use the advanced search option. Remember, to search for courses within the Academic Career of GRAD and your program’s subject.

Here’s how to speak to someone about your course selection for the upcoming registration cycle:
- Prepare your Program Planner to reflect the courses you have completed.
- Search CUNYFirst for possible course options for the next semester, and create a list of options. Remember that required courses are typically offered in Fall and Spring terms only. Generally, electives are offerred during winter intersession, and summer terms.
- Check your Baruchmail (or the program notes on this webpage) for any additional course description information that may be available.
- Send your completed program planner to wsas.graduate.advisement@baruch.cuny.edu to schedule a call at an alternative time.
Please note that requests for internships, independent studies, thesis courses and consultancies may take up to five days to process. It is important that these requests are accompanied by the forms and signatures that are required for approval.
Get ready for Winter/ Spring 2021 registration! Take note of these important changes:
1. The best email address to send registration questions is wsas.graduate.advisement@baruch.cuny.edu. In order for your email to receive a response, you must include your EMPLID.
2. As you plan your courses for Spring, and your overall academic career, please review and complete the attached Spring 21 Arts Admin Courses Program Planner. This is a tool to help you understand the courses you need in order to graduate. We suggest that you update your planner with courses that you have already taken to determine what you may have left to complete. Courses being offered in Winter/Spring 2021 term are marked with an orange star.
3. To see course offerings for Winter/Spring, you will need to search on CF. Remember, as an Arts Administration student, you will need to search for courses with the academic career of GRAD across schools. The course codes in the program planner are a helpful guide as you will be searching for courses under (PAF, FPA, MGT, FIN, MKT, etc). It is important to note that most required classes are only offered in Fall and Spring terms. Generally only elective courses are offered in Winter and Summer terms.
- You are responsible for registering for all FPA courses independently, with the exception of courses that are by permission only which are internships, independent study and consultancy. Required forms are included below.
- If you wish to register for a course in PAF, MGT, FIN or MKT, it will require permission. To request permission for these courses, please visit this link. If you need permission for multiple courses, please complete this form for each course. Request permission for a class. (Requests will no longer be taken over email.)
- For Marxe courses (PAF). There are special sections of Marxe courses specifically for Arts Administration students. PAF9152: taught by Anni Luneau on Thursdays and PAF9153: taught by Edward Sermier on TBD. You may request permission for any section of PAF 9120.
4. Internships and Consultancy Courses are by permission only, via the office of graduate studies. The required forms are included below.
- To request registration for an Internship or Consultancy please use this form: Request permission for a class. (Requests will no longer be taken over email.)
- Internships Courses are by permission only, and require a signed, dated letter from the internship site. The letter should include a general description of duties, the name of the supervisor and the dates of the internship. International students may need to complete additional forms. Please contact wsas.graduate.advisement@baruch.cuny.edu with any questions.
- To register for Consultancy you must have the approval of the faculty member who will be advising you, and have identified an organization on which to base your work.
5. If you are on track to complete your program in Spring 2021, you will need to file for graduation. The dates to file for Spring 2021 graduation are: opens on September 16,2020; closes on February 15, 2021. 6. The date on which your registration period will begin can be found on the homepage of your Student Center in CUNYFirst. Winter and Spring registration begin on the same enrollment date. To get your preferred course schedule please register at the earliest possible time. Course availability is not guaranteed, and late requests for permission or courses may result in the course you want becoming unavailable to you.
Get ready for Winter/ Spring 2021 registration! Take note of these important changes:

To see course offerings for Winter/Spring, you will need to search on CF Remember, as an MA in Corporate Communication student, you will need to search for courses within COM with the Academic Career of GRAD. The course codes in the program planner are a helpful guide. It is important to note that most required classes are only offered in Fall and Spring terms. Elective courses are typically offered in Winter and Summer terms.

5. Internships and Thesis Courses are by permission only, via the office of graduate studies. The required form to use is: Internship-Corp Comm-Form. Please return completed forms to wsas.graduate.advisement@baruch.cuny.edu
- Internships Courses are by permission only, and require a signed, dated letter from the internship site. The letter should include a general description of duties, the name of the supervisor and the dates of the internship. International students may need to complete additional forms. Please contact wsas.graduate.advisement@baruch.cuny.edu with any questions.
- To register for Thesis you must have the approval of the faculty member who will be advising you, and have identified a second reader who has agreed to perform this activity.
6. The date on which your registration period will begin can be found on the homepage of your Student Center in CUNYFirst. Winter and Spring registration begin on the same enrollment date. To get your preferred course schedule please register at the earliest possible time.
7. If you are on track to complete your program in Spring 2021, you will need to file for graduation.
