Declare A Concentration – for Zicklin Students

    The Weissman Concentration

Students in the Zicklin School of Business BBA degree program may now complete an optional concentration in the liberal arts or science discipline of their choice.

Students completing a concentration in liberal arts will be subject to the program prerequisites and courses that apply to the corresponding Weissman major.

Zicklin students who wish to register for a Weissman Concentration must meet with a faculty advisor in the relevant academic department to complete a Weissman Concentration Declaration Form for BBA Students. Once the concentration form is approved in the Associate Dean’s Office, students’ DegreeWorks audits will be updated to reflect the required courses. Please refer to the Spring 2025 Weissman Faculty Advisor List for contact information.

Baruch does not offer a dual degree program, so students will not graduate with both the BBA and BA degrees. The Weissman Concentration will appear on students’ final transcripts after completion of all relevant courses has been confirmed by members of the Graduation Audit Unit in the Registrar’s Office.

    Please Note:
    • BBA students who complete a Weissman Concentration are waived from courses 2-4 of the College Option degree requirement (the liberal arts minor).
    • BBA students who pursue a Weissman Concentration are waived from the Weissman Core (COM 1010 and two semesters of the same foreign language).

    Planning Your Academic Career:

BBA students interested in pursuing a Weissman Concentration should get started as soon as possible. Please keep in mind that courses in the Weissman Concentration may not be covered under the Excelsior and TAP Programs. Students who have questions regarding Excelsior and TAP eligibility should contact the relevant units:

    • Excelsior Unit: Excelsior@baruch.cuny.edu
    • TAP Unit: TapCompliance@baruch.cuny.edu

Students who want to explore a potential Weissman Concentration before committing to it may start with a minor if available. Such students should choose their courses carefully since some minor capstones and courses may not align perfectly with the major requirements.  Please speak to an adviser in the relevant department.

    Requirements and Guidelines:

    • Students must take at least 60% of their Weissman Concentration courses at Baruch College.
    • Students are expected to follow the concentration requirements in place at the time of their declaration. For more information, see the undergraduate bulletin.
    • Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 in the Weissman Concentration courses to graduate with the program listed on their transcripts.
    • Students may not use the same course for both their major and the second concentration.
    • BBA students doing a Weissman Concentration are not allowed to swap out to a BA in Weissman and a second concentration in Zicklin.
    • Students may combine any Zicklin major and Weissman Concentration EXCEPT the following combinations, which are not allowed:
      • BBA in Economics with a Concentration in Economics
      • BBA in Statistics with a Concentration in Statistics
      • BBA in I/O Psychology with a Concentration in Psychology

Note: The combination of BBA in Finance with a Weissman Concentration in Economics is acceptable, but students will take an additional major elective course to replace ECO 4000.

    • Students can choose from the Weissman majors listed below for their second concentration.
